Here is a very recent overview video of nanotechnology and nano enabled products. From Lawrence Berkeley National Labs to Silicon Valley, researchers are manipulating particles at the atomic level, ushering in potential cures for cancer, clothes that don't stain, and solar panels as thick as a sheet of paper.



Nano enabled products are finished goods at the end of a value chain that incorporate nanomaterials in their production - and remember - a nanometer is one billionth of a meter.  I have come to understand that there are two types of nano-enabled products - the first type is using smaller and smaller component parts in making things - because the actual size of the parts determines the differing results of how the finished product performs.  Using a particular size of nanoparticle, the end product could be stronger, or stain resistant, etc.  The other type of nano enabled products is what I have learned is the "bottom up" approach - where we develop tiny robots on the same nano scale to actually make products starting at the atomic or molecular level.  This would involve using "feeder" atoms and then applying intelligence in order to place those atoms in the correct configuration in order to obtain the desired end result product.

Here is a video pertaining to my type 1 nano enabled product.  This type of nano enabled product is the current type - using nanoparticles for making better, more useful products.  Real applications have moved out of the lab and into the marketplace - such as suntan lotion, cosmetics, protective coatings, and stain resistant clothing.  From above, this is my type 1 nano enabled product.  This type of nano enabled product is the current type - using nanoparticles for making better, more useful products. Nanotechnology has begun to infiltrate several industries. The new methods of working with the very, very small is creating a broad range of emerging businesses and markets - from more powerful computers to more efficient and effective drug delivery systems in the medical field.

This trend is expected to continue over the next several years, as technologies that were yesterday's research and development projects are being replaced with market entries for new and better products and services.

Overall, nano enabled products are expected to grow at an annual growth rate of close to 50% - through the next several years...

The emergence of nano enabled products will have a deeply transformative impact on more or less all aspects of our lives - political, social, economic, philosophical...  And nano enabled products will be the norm - at least if by using smaller nano-sized component parts - the end product has more usefulness. Come to think of it - it will only be made a certain way if it has more usefulness.
